Just wondering ... is there any such thing as an adapter which will allow playing miniDV tapes in a standard VCR ?
( similar to the adapters used for VHS-C )

No such beast. MiniDV is digital. VHS is analogue.
Reply:no, but companies do make some really cool miniDV tapedecks that are basically miniDV players themselves.
