Which of the following makes a good standard candle?

I'm not sure if any of you know what standard candle means..

a. an asteroid

b. ear wax

c. black hole

d. a white dwarf supernova

e. a giant molecular cloud

i put D of course..you can rely on me to pick the silly answers if you are an astro god.

Which of the following makes a good standard candle?
D is actually the right answer as a white dwarf supernova (or a type Ia supernova) explodes with a very specific absolute magnitude.
Reply:What are you studying!? That is the goofiest question. If the answer is b that's insane. What's this from?! :)
Reply:I'd say b.
Reply:I'm not sure what the problem is. D is correct. White dwarfs that go nova tend to be similar in size and so produce a similar amount of energy when they go boom.
