Will a DVB-C receiver work in North America??

I 'm aware of the ATSC standard, but I'm looking at buying a DVB-C receiver. Any helpful info is appreciated.

A DVB-C "receiver" or set-top box is of no use in North America. DVB-C is the digital cable television broadcasting standard used in many countries around the globe other than in North America. No content provider, particularly cable broadcasters within any North American country, would be permitted to broadcast digital television content using a digital television standard such as DVB-C that has not been approved for use by that country's broadcasting and communications regulatory body.





Furthermore most DVB products are designed for use in countries that operate on electrical power systems that differ from those used in North America.
