What is the standard tuning of a flute?

What is the most common tuning of a flute? I know u can get them in numerous tunings but what is the standard? Im guessing C?

What is the standard tuning of a flute?
If, by "tuning," you mean the transposition, then the "standard" flute is in C, which is to say that it is a non-transposing instrument. What you see on the music is exactly the note that sounds.

There are, of course, other types of flutes with different transpositions:

alto flute - in G (sounds a fourth lower than written)

piccolo - in C (but sounds an octave higher than written)

bass flute - in C (but sounds an octave lower than written)

Db piccolo - in Db (common in old military bands, but not used a lot today, as far as I know)

There might be others, too, but these are the most common.
Reply:The standard concert flutes are C instruments unlike the transposing instruments such as trumpets which are Bb.

The alto flute is a bit different : it is a transposing instrument in G

Reply:The lowest note you can get from a flute is the middle C, but we use the standard A (440 Hz) for tuning.
Reply:Bb
