How much is standard for an oil change on a Mercedes Benz c-240 at the Mercedes dealer?

Hi.....probably too much. In my opinion, dealerships should only be used for warrenty repair. Their shop labor rates are extremely high, as much as $85 an hour or more depending on where you live. And, your gonna pay all the money retail if you buy parts from them. Try to find a good local mechanic from asking a few of your friends. Good mechanics are hard to find, but a local shop usually has a labor rate of $45 an hour, sometimes less. Oil changes and general maintainance are usually easy to do on most cars. Stay away from the dealer repair shop as much as possible. Only go there after a few local shops couldnt figure out your particular problem. Or, call the dealer and ask for an estimate up front. They pay the mechanic "book time". So if a particular mechanic makes $20 an hour, and lets say replacing a starter pays 1.5 hours, the mechanic makes $30 for the job, even if it takes him 3 hours to do it. Also, the dealer will charge you 1.5 hours of labor rate, so that usually raises the price alot. If the shop charges $80 an hour labor, you'll pay $120 for labor for the mechanic to put in the starter, plus, the cost of the starter itself. Too much in my opinion..............Good Luck!!
